Always with your  smartphone

Our smartphone, an extension of our hand for the past few years, has quickly become an indispensable accessory in our daily lives. Naturally, it has also found its way into our sports activities.

Some see this as something negative, a constraint, or even feel that it undermines the original spirit of running, which is meant to be a breath of fresh air, a bubble where we can forget about everything else. But isn't the opposite also true? Hasn't the smartphone become a valuable asset and an important boost in our training and preparation?

  • 1. Safety

As we say, "Better safe than sorry!" When you go running, it's better to be cautious. It's easy to hurt your knee or sprain your ankle. Fortunately, with a smartphone at hand, it's easier than ever to call someone or emergency services, even though we hope you won't have to.

And besides, it’s always handy to have a phone when you’re completely lost in the middle of the woods in pitch black, right?

  • 2. Track your performance, health stats

Having your smartphone during your running sessions isn't just useful for ensuring your safety. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned marathoner, a running enthusiast, you love tracking your performance! With your phone nearby and dozens of specialized apps, checking your performance or health stats has never been easier. Get ready for progress charts and stats that we half understand.

  • 3. Listen to your favorite music

Seriously, what’s better than listening to your favorite playlist during your weekend run? An energetic, punchy tune that gives you a boost of motivation, energy, and pushes you to give your best. In fact, music can be a great way to find motivation. It's well-known, and multiple scientific studies have proven that music has a positive impact on sports performance. It reduces feelings of fatigue and discomfort from physical activity, increases endurance tolerance, and helps with focus. Just make sure you choose the right music; "Ne me quitte pas" by Jacques Brel might not be the most appropriate for the situation.

And a little tip from the Shapeheart team, there are even playlists tailored to your running pace on streaming platforms like Spotify and Deezer.

  • 4. Capture moments

We've all experienced that annoying moment when we want to capture a beautiful landscape or a funny event to share with family or friends, but unfortunately, we don't have our phone with us! It's during these moments that you realize taking your phone on your run isn't so useless.

By the way, why not share your best photos during your solo or group runs with us on Instagram using @Shapeheart_?

  • 5.-Never-miss-professional-or-family-calls

And finally, the most important question: how do you manage when, after a full workday, the responsibilities are still there? How do you respond to your boss, clients, or family if the calls are important and can't be postponed?

Step 1

Okay, but where should you put it?

To choose the best sports accessory you need for your training, you should first identify ALL your needs. We recommend knowing if you need a large space for your keys, watch, earphones, credit card, phone, or not.

  • The armband

Aesthetic, comfortable, affordable, waterproof, sweat-resistant… our sports armband allows easy access to your phone (GPS, music, apps) thanks to its detachable magnetic sleeve.

    Sport Armband
  • The belt

Our sports belt, in addition to its detachable magnetic sleeve, features 3 additional compartments for keys, gels, cards, and soft flasks. It's the perfect ally for runners!

  • The bra

So yes, it might not seem like the most elegant solution, but there are sports bras on the market specifically designed with smartphone integration. Located in the front, you can store your smartphone, keys, money, and other valuables.

The only downside is having to stop every time to check your phone.

  • The backpack

For the most experienced runners, storing your phone in hydration packs may seem like a simple solution. Sure, if the pack is only for carrying the phone, it might not be very useful and there are much more practical, less bulky, and cheaper solutions. However, if you're preparing for a long run, you need to carry water to stay hydrated. In this case, it’s smart to get a hydration pack that includes a pocket for your phone.

  • The pockets

Now, we come to the least practical solutions, which are almost survival situations. We don't really recommend this solution as it will inconvenience you more than anything else.

At this rate, it's time to invest a little!

  • By hand?

Finally, we want to warn you, holding your phone in your hand may seem like the easiest and least expensive option, but you may not yet realize it comes with risks we advise you not to take...

The "weight" of the phone, no matter how light, can cause quite a few issues. As a result, this will create an imbalance in your entire body. Holding the phone will contract the arm muscles and, consequently, the shoulder muscles. This will cause a misalignment of all upper limbs, increasing the risk of injury! So, this option should be avoided starting now.

On your marks, get set,

GO!

No more excuses to gear up and improve your stride and performance.
