But what is an electric bike?
The Electric Assisted Bicycle (EAB), more commonly known as an electric bike, looks like a regular bicycle but has a unique feature: it has an electric motor!
But the motor isn't the only thing that makes the bike move—you play a big part too. In fact, this mode of transport combines your energy with that of the motor.

The price of electric bikes on the market can range from €900 to €5000 for the highest-quality models. So, a rather high price—but can this investment pay off over time?
The answer is yes! Unlike mechanical bikes, electric bikes allow you to cover longer distances at a higher speed, bringing them closer to the utility of a scooter or motorcycle.
And it's mostly about the budget you'll allocate to charging your two-wheeler, which will make you happy. According to several calculations, expect around 1€ for 1000km of electricity. That's 0.001€ per kilometer. To give you an idea, a car consumes about 85€ of gas for 1000km, which is 0.085€ per kilometer.
